LJ sucks. ( Squeamish? ) April 16th, 2009: Bug season is upon us. and I have a new camera and homemade macro lens. My apologies, they've changed this thing around since I last posted a picture and I can't figure out how to make a livejournal cut. Help? ![]() March 8th, 2009January 11th, 2009: A found memory It's 2:00am, I should be sleeping, but I'm in a space that requires reflection. Earlier today I stumbled on this video, which when played on endless repeat really puts me back in the day I took it. My brother, my wife and I were exploring the Whirlpool River that flows through Dad's land. It's a chunk of unfarmable - and therefore unspoiled - "wilderness". I really miss the easy access I enjoyed to such places. Everything about this video makes me homesick. The carefree summery goodness, the quiettude, the birds, the moving water, the saturated green of the moss that prevails against (yet goes with) the current. The permanence of the place and the life that fits easily into it. I can feel the current tugging at my feet and pants cuffs. The cold squishiness of sumbmerged runners and socks. The shifting pebbles under my feet. The ungainly movements I'm making because of the current and the shifting pebbles. The scraping of the canoe I'm dragging over the rocks. The clunking of paddles against the gunnels. The laughing. The unselfconscious happiness. A perfect moment. I really need a canoe or kayak for the spring. December 23rd, 2008November 30th, 2008: Wiener dog clothing Haven't posted anything for a year or more, so you know that I must have something momentous to discuss. Boy howdy!!! I just confirmed for myself that one can buy a Christmas stocking - even a $1 version from Dollar Giant - and convert it into dog clothing by simply opening up leg holes in the heel and a head hole in the toe. Wicked stylin', B A B Y!!! ![]() ![]() May 31st, 2008April 3rd, 2008April 1st, 2008March 12th, 2008March 1st, 2008February 27th, 2008: Life is beautiful My woman is far away. My kitchen and both bathrooms are in various stages of being torn down and rebuilt. My puppy is spending a night away from her daddy in a strange place where 11 teeth and 2 ovaries were stolen from her. She doesn't even have her blanket, her damn sexy snake, or her daddy's unwashed sock to comfort her. And I'm ok. Huh. Those cod liver oil pills make a fine finger for a dam. ![]() |
